Location The BioMS 2012 workshop will be held at Palazzo S. Agostino, Salerno, Italy. Palazzo S. Agostino is an important historical building located in the center of Salerno (Via Roma 154). The meeting space is "Il Salone Bottiglieri".

Transportation Bus SITA buses for Amalfi (at least hourly) depart from Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in front of the train station, stopping en route at Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Maiori and Minori. The Naples service, however, departs from outside Bar Cioffi (Corso Garibaldi 134), where you can buy your ticket. CSTP (089 48 70 01; http://www.cstp.it) bus 50 runs from Piazza Vittorio Veneto to Pompeii (one hour, 15 daily). For Paestum (one hour 20 minutes, 14 daily) take bus 34 from Piazza della Concordia. Buonotourist (199 68 06 80; www.buonotourist.it) runs daily services to Naples' Capodichino airport, departing from the train station. Tickets can be bought on board; journey time is one hour. Car & motorcycle Salerno is on the A3 between Naples and Reggio Calabria, which is toll-free from Salerno southwards. Air The nearest airports are the Salerno's Pontecagnano Airport (http://www.aeroportosalerno.it) distant 12 km from Salerno and the Naples' Capodichino Airport (http://www.portal.gesac.it/portal/page/portal/internet), distant about 70 Km from Salerno. Train Salerno is a major stop on southbound routes to Calabria, Basilicata and Puglia. There are regular trains to Naples (35 minutes, half-hourly), Rome (2½hours, hourly), and Reggio Calabria (4½ hours, 15 daily). Boat Between April and October, ferries and hydrofoils run from the Porto Turistico (200m down the pier from Piazza della Concordia) to Amalfi and Positano. Buy tickets from the booths by the embarkation points. Departures for Capri and Ischia leave from Molo Manfredi at the Porto Commerciale. Contact the tourist office for current schedules. |
